The Drama of “Mera Jism Meri Marzi” and Aurat March

Aurat March in Pakistan |
Nowadays, I hear a lot of people talking about Aurat March
which is going to held across Pakistan on March 08, 2020. And the viral video
of renowned writer Khalil Ur Rehman using an abusing language to a woman in a
TV Talk Show over this March. This march is against the discrimination and
injustice of society towards females especially in backward countries like
Pakistan. But this is not the only problem of Pakistan, it’s the issue of women
around the globe, even well-developed counties like America failed to give
justice to women. Till now they haven’t elected any female president. And the
horrible rape cases of Harvey Weinstein which ignited the #MeToo movement.
Anyhow, human history is full of such horrendous crimes against women and girls,
which must be stopped at once!

Aurat March Slogans and banners |
Although, I favor women's rights but I don’t favor Aurat March.
We have to ask ourselves one question: does this “Aurat March” and the women on
the TV show really represent the underprivileged women of our country? Do
their demands are the demands of deprived women of our society? Because one of the slogans of such march says
“Mei Jism Meri Merzi”. I feel this demand raised from irrational minds. Why
don’t the Aurat March demands of the right to education for all women and girls? Why
don’t they demand the total elimination of dowry? I think when the women and girls get a good
education then most of the problems of her will vanish: she will be
independent!
There is a famous fable in Hunza culture. Someone asked a rich boy
what a full moon looks like? He replied it looks like the beautiful face of my
lover. The same question was asked from a poor boy his reply was “It looks like the
delicious bread of my mother”. The lesson is poor have different priorities
than the rich. Same is the case with the Aurat March, the demands or the
slogans of the Aurat March are of not poor rather the demands of the
riches. If you really want to reform society and need justice for women, then just ask for one thing education, it
will transform society into a better place for women.
In my opinion, the Aurat march is polluted with such demands
as “Meri Jism, Meri Marzi” and “Apna Salan Khud Garam Karo”. I think there
are better slogans out there to use, you will find better slogans when you will
visit the females of poor and backward areas of Pakistan.
